Join us for a Monday morning eclipse event at St Philips Plaza on Campbell, on Monday Aug 21, 9AM-12. We’ll have at least one telescope with solar filters, and it will be set up so you can follow the progress of this unique celestial event.

If any of you have a telescope and you would like to bring it, please let me know.

Union Public House knows to expect a larger than usual lunch crowd (they open at 11AM). Depending on the number of attendees, we may be able to use their private dining room. http://www.uniontucson.com/

You are encouraged to bring your cameras and solar filters (required with camera), or if you don’t have a solar filter for your camera I will have materials there to make one specific to each camera for a small cost – should be $5 for a small lens. But I need to know in advance you will want to do this. You will also need to have a filter attached to your cell phone or any other device you might use to photograph the sun.

We’ll also have opportunity to engage in some citizen science observations.

For your planning, the eclipse begins about 9:15, peaks at 10:35, and is complete by about 12:05.

Please RSVP so I can apprise Union House as to the number of people to expect, and again, whether you will need a solar filter for your camera.
