UNDERSTANDING DIGITIZING
Digitizing involves so much more than creating a design and stitching it out on fabric. Depending on the stitches you choose, and the fabric you choose, the design may not stitch the way you envision it will.
Above is one of the first designs I digitized. My philosophy of learning is to pick something you are interested in, and go from there. As you see there are a number of shapes involved and each one of them pushes or pulls the fabric differently
Below is a screenshot of my design in Embrilliance. Enlarge the image, and you will see that I have chosen to have the stitches moving in different directions for effect, and of course there are multitude of shapes, several of which had to be cut away , such as the sun, to create empty space for the cacti. You can see where the design seems wider in some areas.
So, the most important aspect of digitizing, in my own experience, is an understanding of push-pull compensation, the more so for complex designs. But if you create a circle in SA, and it stitches out as an oval, you will see this in even the most simple design. It takes practice and experimentation to learn your design and your machine, your stitches, your thread, your fabric and how they all work together.
